Uncle Bunkus

A retired boat captain and fisherman, a recently widowed Kerr Bunkus was taking a Japanese couple and their baby, Mako, on a boat tour in Scotland, when a sea monster attacked the ship. He was able to save Mako, and raised her as his own, teaching her everything she knows about fishing.

He knows about Mako's special ability, and though he lives in Scotland and pays for Mako to live in Japan, he's recently swung by after hearing news of people having their souls stolen.
